At Crowned History, we believe that Black hair is more than a style — it’s a timeline, a language, and a legacy.
Our journey begins in Ancient Egypt, where braids, locs, and shaved heads were symbols of identity, spirituality, and royalty. From there, we trace the story of Black hair through centuries of creativity, resistance, erasure, and pride — all the way to today’s natural hair movement and cultural expression.
This platform was born out of a passion to document and celebrate the richness of African hairstyles across history. Through visual storytelling, digital archives, and cultural education, Crowned History connects the strands of the past with the style and spirit of the present.
We honour the textures, traditions, and transitions of Black hair — and the people who wear it with power. Because every curl, coil, and crown tells a story.
